Staff Accountant
Job Title: Staff Accountant
Job Details:
Perform all of the job duties noted below only for nonprofit organizations:
- Prepare Uniform Financial Statement and Independent Auditor’s Report (UFR).
- Report to management about asset utilization and audit results, and recommend changes in operations and financial activities.
- Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies.
- Inspect account books and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness, and use of accepted accounting procedures to record transactions.
- Confer with company officials about financial and regulatory matters.
- Examine and evaluate financial and information systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
- Inspect cash on hand, notes receivable and payable, negotiable securities, and canceled checks to confirm records are accurate.
- Examine records and interview workers to ensure recording of transactions and compliance with laws and regulations.
- Prepare, examine, audit or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Prepare adjusting journal entries.
- Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
- Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
- Examine inventory to verify journal and ledger entries.
- Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
- Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.
- Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
- Evaluate taxpayer finances to determine tax liability, using knowledge of interest and discount rates, annuities, valuation of stocks and bonds, and amortization valuation of depletable assets.
- Examine whether the organization’s objectives are reflected in its management activities, and whether employees understand the objectives.
- Audit payroll and personnel records to determine unemployment insurance premiums, workers’ compensation coverage, liabilities, and compliance with tax laws.
- Review taxpayer accounts, and conduct audits on-site, by correspondence, or by summoning taxpayer to office.
- Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting, or other tax requirements.
- Advise clients in areas such as compensation, employee health care benefits, the design of accounting or data processing systems, or long-range tax or estate plans.
- Represent clients before taxing authorities and provide support during litigation involving financial issues.
- Direct activities of personnel engaged in filing, recording, compiling, and transmitting financial records.
- Conduct pre-implementation audits to determine if systems and programs under development will work as planned.
- Develop, maintain, or analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
- Prepare, analyze, or verify annual reports, financial statements, and other records, using accepted accounting and statistical procedures to assess financial condition and facilitate financial planning.
- Process invoices for payment.
- Review data about material assets, net worth, liabilities, capital stock, surplus, income, or expenditures.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum Experience: 18 months of experience in the job offered or in preparing tax returns for nonprofits, auditing financial statements for nonprofits and preparing the UFR for nonprofits.

Senior Accountant
Job Title: Senior Accountant
Job Details:
- Provides timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations.
- Keeps lines of communication open with staff and clients.
- Performs diversified accounting, auditing, and tax assignments under the direction of the Partner or Manager.
- Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and Firm standards.
- Meets time and client deadlines.
- Participates in planning and scheduling client engagements.
- Monitors and reports regarding the productivity of staff and adheres to work plan schedules on each assignment.
- Directs and instructs Staff Accountants, when applicable, in work to be performed and work paper review.
- Determines the extent of test-checking required in an audit and selects the transactions to be tested.
- Prepares and indexes work papers, performs various procedures established under generally accepted accounting principles to verify accuracy and validity of clients’ financial matters.
- Prepares complicated tax returns.
- Suggest client tax planning ideas and opportunity to increase level and types of services to a Partner or Manager.
- Prepares routine correspondence to client for approval and signature of a Partner or Manager and writes comments for management letters.
- Drafts reports including footnotes.
- Performs the broadest range of accounting tasks so that direct participation Partners and/or Managers is kept to a minimum.
- Leads engagement team and prepares end of engagement evaluations for staff.
Other Functions
- Keeps abreast of latest developments as they affect GAAP and the Firm’s standards and policies.
- Prepares other reports and projects as requested from time to time by the Partners.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Position/Program Requirements:
- Minimum Years of Experience: At least 4 years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity, scope, and number of engagements managed.
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Accounting or other related program.
Knowledge Preferred:
- Some knowledge and exposure to the common issues facing not-for-profit organizations.
- Technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and US GAAS.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or commitment to pass CPA exam and thereafter obtain CPA licensure
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in the use of computers and computer accounting and tax software programs.
- Proven record of simultaneously managing multiple projects and engagement teams for various clients.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Regular and consistent attendance.

Accounting and Audit Manager
Job Title: Accounting and Audit Manager
Job Details:
- Manages all phases of audit, compilation, or review engagements.
- Maintains contact with clients throughout the year and possesses a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of the client’s business.
- Plans and schedules client engagements, including scheduling staff members, using Firm policies and procedures.
- Maintains familiarity with qualifications of all staff members and uses staff members appropriately on client engagements.
- Evaluates internal controls and work programs prepared by staff members.
- Creates and adheres to engagement time budgets.
- Supervises staff and provides on-the-job training and reviews work papers and reports prepared by the staff members.
- Anticipates problem areas of the engagements and questions that will arise and prepares accordingly.
- Keeps the Partner informed of all the important developments on engagements, analyzes any problem areas and makes resolution recommendations.
- Ensures that financial statements, tax returns, and comment letters are prepared in accordance with professional and Firm standards.
- Communicates progress of engagements, any problem areas and resolutions to the client.
- Works to develop responsible, trained staff by assisting in the performance review process.
- Prepares invoices to clients and communicates details of fees to clients.
Other Functions
- Works to develop responsible, trained staff members by developing training aids and acting as an instructor in professional development programs.
