Nancy E. Kelly

CPA, RN, MST, CFE

Nancy, who grew up in the blue collar community of Medford, Mass, began her professional journey with a compassionate heart as a registered nurse in the operating room of Whidden Hospital in Everett. As she dedicated herself to patient care, she witnessed first-hand the profound need for adequate funding to tackle the social issues that affected her hometowns of Chelsea, Medford, and Everett. She understood deeply that addressing these challenges required substantial resources far beyond the concept of Monopoly money.

In pursuit of this goal, Nancy attended Boston College while continuing her OR work. Her dedication led her to master financial matters and earn her CPA. She aspired to make a meaningful impact, driven by the belief that frontline workers needed proper support and resources.

Upon earning her accounting degree from Boston College and a Master’s from Bentley College, Nancy founded Third Sector Development. This company launched a training program, funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Health, aimed at educating AIDS service organizations on fiscal management and accountability. Committed to understanding the operational side of these organizations, she volunteered and was elected President of the Board of Victory Programs in the South End of Boston, a top AIDS service organization.

With a passionate spirit, Nancy often traveled by bicycle, delivering clear and practical accounting education to service providers. She guided them through the complex landscape of federal and state regulations linked to social services.

Nancy later established an accounting firm, drawing together a skilled and diverse team focused on offering audit and accounting services specifically to social service organizations. Her firm’s fiscal management training garnered the interest of New York University, where she served as an adjunct professor for five years, sharing her expertise with not-for-profit Executive Directors with immense dedication.

Nancy manages her firm with the heartfelt belief that “there is no such thing as an emergency journal entry” and that people are always more important than profits. When the chance arose, she expanded her services, engaged in peer reviews of CPA firms, and volunteered with the New England Peer Review Board, evaluating the auditing skills of fellow CPAs.

In her personal time, Nancy pours her creativity into meticulously crafting award-winning quilts, adding warmth and beauty to her office. Recently, she completed the Advanced Program in Negotiation at Harvard Law School, a transformative experience that she values even more than five years of counseling, significantly enhancing her negotiation skills.

Nancy’s journey is a testament to her unwavering dedication to social good and her empathetic approach to making a difference and is at the heart of the DNA of KVR.

Jonathan Vitale

MSA, cPA

Jonathan Vitale grew up in a community where he learned to make homemade ice cream in the cornerstone of his family-owned business. By the age of 12, he entered the world of entrepreneurship, gaining expertise in managing a retail business and handling the responsibilities of meeting payroll and purchasing ice cream cones. Later, he expanded his skill set to include real estate and accounting. Being a long-time acquaintance of Ken Raffol’s family, Jonathan joined Ken’s firm at the start of his accounting career. Since 2013, he has specialized in auditing services for not-for-profit entities and preparing IRS form 990 and Massachusetts form PC. In his spare time, Jonathan plays the guitar in a band. His dedication to the not-for-profit sector is a significant achievement in his professional journey.

Kenneth Raffol

CPA

Kenneth Raffol has over 40 years of experience in accounting, operating primarily in Needham and Boston, Massachusetts. He has extensive experience in public accounting firms and also runs his own financial practice. He specializes in providing services to closely held businesses and their owners, including auditing, taxation, and business planning. His expertise extends to non-profit audits, real estate, construction management, and for-profit dental practices. In addition to his professional achievements, Ken is an accomplished ballroom dancer and holds a 3rd degree black belt in Karate.

Richard Petrie

Richard Petrie oversees our firm’s technology and specializes in working with small to medium size businesses and not-for-profits. Dick is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Information Management and Technology Assurance Division. He also serves as treasurer for Carter Memorial United Methodist Church. Rich attended Babson College to obtain his degree in Accounting.

Enrique Nova

MSA

Enrique Nova dedicates himself to preparing financial statements for audits and reviews, performing analytical procedures and substantive testing, and preparing federal and state tax returns. He also handles Uniform Financial Reports (UFR) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Born in the Dominican Republic, Enrique pursued his studies in Madrid, Spain, and is fluent in Spanish. He moved to Boston at the tender age of 12. During college, he generously volunteered his time as a Spanish-English interpreter and assisted with citizenship applications for the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition. Remarkably, he was the youngest applicant to apply for Citizenship in the US with support from Project Citizenship, Inc., an organization with which he is now the lead auditor. Additionally, he served as the lead auditor for Transcore, the Massachusetts EZ Pass system. Enrique’s unwavering work ethic extends beyond his professional life. He has recently fulfilled the American dream by moving his family from public housing to their very own brand-new home. Through his dedication and hard work, Enrique has earned the admiration and respect of everyone around him.

Robert Johnson

JD

Robert has dedicated his life to making a profound impact on his community and beyond. He once managed policies as an affirmative action officer for both the Massachusetts Board of Community Colleges and the University of Massachusetts at Boston. When he felt called to pursue a new path, he began practicing employment and criminal law with his trusted colleague, Eddie Jenkins, Jr. Life threw him a curveball in 1992 with a heart condition, which led him to redirect his passion toward academia. At the University of Massachusetts at Boston, he found his true calling, teaching Africana Studies with dedication and care. Robert’s heart and soul are reflected in his prolific writing on African American history, including Why Blacks Left America for Africa: Interviews with Black Expatriates, 1971-1999 and Nantucket’s People of Color: Essays on History, Politics, and Community. His storytelling extends to the stage as well, with plays like Scag, Stop and Frisk, and Mama G. that delve deeply into African American experiences. Armed with a JD from Cornell Law School, Robert now champions diversity, equity, and inclusion at a law firm. In his spare time, he inspires others by hosting monthly round table discussions, fostering thoughtful dialogue to tackle global issues.

Robert Marquart

Robert dedicated 17 meaningful years as a key member of the Executive Team at the Latino Health Institute in Boston. With a wealth of knowledge, he compassionately provides expert advice to not-for-profits, mastering every aspect of managing and building capacity in this crucial sector. His expertise shines in areas like Federal Indirect Cost and Fringe Benefit Rates. Before his impactful work in Boston, Robert served as a program officer for Save the Children in Thailand, a role that reflects his deep commitment to making a difference. Fluent in Thai, French, Spanish, and Tagalog, Robert’s linguistic skills further demonstrate his dedication to connecting with diverse communities. Originally from the vibrant Christopher Street in New York City, he continues to support clients such as Paige Academy, Green Energy, Urban Word, and the American Psychological Association, always with a heart full of empathy and a desire to help others thrive.

Sean Hurley

ACCOUNTANT

With a strong understanding of not-for-profit accounting principles, Sean Hurley is responsible for numerous tasks for the firm, including preparing financial statements and grant reports, and testing compliance with applicable laws and regulations. He is also responsible for analyzing financial data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.

Samuel Agyare

ACCOUNTANT

Sam Agyare joined the firm in 2021 as a staff accountant and auditor. He prepares financial statements for audits and reviews, performs analytical procedures and substantive testing in preparation for audits, and prepares federal and state tax returns. Mr. Agyare also performs Uniform Financial Reports (UFR) for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mr. Agyare spent 15 years as an Investment Fund Accountant at State Street Investment Bank, then at Bank of New York Mellon prior to joining our team.

Sandy Saliba

MBA

Sandy Saliba is a Manager at KVR, experienced in tax preparation, audit preparation, and bookkeeping. Originally from Lebanon, Sandy blends a rich cultural heritage with a deep understanding of the financial complexities faced by businesses and individuals alike.
With a strong background in accounting and finance, Sandy has successfully managed a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from individuals to medium corporations. She holds a degree in Accounting and Finance Management from Northeastern University and a Master’s in Business Management from Monroe College. Her multilingual abilities, including fluency in Arabic, French and English, allow her to serve a diverse client base effectively.
When she’s not working, Sandy enjoys reading, traveling, exploring new cuisines, and volunteering in the community, reflecting her passion for both personal and professional growth.

Antoine Guglielmi

MSBA

Antoine was born and raised in France but moved to India at 16 to attend the prestigious Mahindra United World College of India. At UWC, he shared a campus with students from over 70 different nationalities, experiencing a unique learning environment focused on celebrating diversity and inclusion, with classes in the mornings and volunteering in the afternoons.

He then moved to Ithaca, New York, where he received dual degrees in Business Administration and Cinema Production from Ithaca College. During his time there, Antoine developed a passion for vintage cars and sailing, interests that continue to occupy most of his free time.

In 2022, Antoine relocated to Boston and earned a Master of Science in Business Analytics from Babson College in 2024, subsequently joining KVR. He is an active member of the Charles Community Boating and the National Corvette Restorer’s Society.

Maxwell Battles

INTERN

Maxwell grew up in Massachusetts with his four brothers–three of whom share his birthday as a set of natural quadruplets split into two sets of identical twins. As the younger of his twin set, he likes to joke that he is the ‘evil clone’. With one of their cousins as a frequent babysitter, Maxwell and his brothers spent their childhood playing Legos and building dams and forts in the woods behind their house. A love for the outdoors and sports were instilled in them by their parents, and Maxwell developed passion for tennis, skiing, basketball, and football.

After high school, Maxwell pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Mathematics and History at Tufts University. It was at Tufts where Maxwell decided to change course with athletics and joined the equestrian team. Horseback riding has since become a critical component of his life, and he has been leasing a warmblood named Dewey since 2020. Together they train for and compete in show jumping.

He currently is studying for a master’s in Finance from Boston College, so that he’ll be able to fund his equestrian addiction.

Brendan Davis

Brendan Davis joined KVR in January 2024, bringing his dedication and enthusiasm to our team. Currently pursuing an accounting major and a data analytics minor at Stonehill College. At KVR, Brendan plays a vital role in audit and tax preparation, manages bookkeeping tasks, and assists with preparing and analyzing financial statements. His attention to detail and analytical skills ensures the accuracy and completeness of our financial operations. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Brendan enjoys playing rugby and always loves exploring new recipes in the kitchen. His strong zeal and passion make him a valuable member of our team.
